A picture of what is alleged to be a new PlayStation controller with the developer kit in the background has been leaked on Destructoid.
The controller seems to combine both a front facing touch pad and a form of PlayStation Move interface at the top. This follows on from patents filed last year featuring a DualShock with the Move interface attached. Sony seem to want to integrate their motion technology into their next generation plans from release which, as we know from the SixAxis, did not go so well with the launch of PS3.
The image has quickly been confirmed by sources on IGN, saying that the controller is real and is an early prototype. This means that the controller will almost certainly look different when the finished product comes around.
We will not know for certain whether this is indeed the next generation controller until at least the 20th of February. Six days to go!
