Reports Say Xbox Has Always Online Functionality

Reports from Edge say that the Xbox will require a constant internet connection while also neutering the second hand games market.

According to unnamed sources that have "first-hand experience of Microsoft’s next generation console", the console will focus entirely on Xbox Live functionality with games being downloaded from the Live store. Also Edge say physical games will be available and "will be manufactured on 50GB-capacity Blu-ray discs". The games will ship with activation codes that can be used once and will render second hand games useless.

The sources also confirmed that the specs for the Xbox will be identical to recent reports (AMD eight-core x64 1.6GHz CPU and 8GB of DDR3 RAM) and will ship with a new version of Kinect.

Online-only capability is not always a good option as many homes do not have internet connections still. If true, the Xbox could hand an advantage to the PS4, if the console does not incorporate the same technology.

As this is from unnamed sources there is no way to prove how valid these reports are. Are these good or bad in your opinion?
